Anyone out there ever consider joining / creating a Coffee Club? - TopicsExpress

Anyone out there ever consider joining / creating a Coffee Club? By this I mean, a small group who purchases green beans, roasts and packages them for enjoyment of the members (ie; we each take home a pound bi-weekly, a different type of bean each roast). Ive spent an exorbitant amount of time learning a heck of a pile about acquiring beans, roasting equipment (home-scale) and the process itself. Quality home-class roasters of 1lb capacity are fairly common and quite affordable. As with everything these days, there are countless reviews of roasting machines, and the best of the bunch appears to be the unit pictured below (around $400). The fun of this would be in learning to roast our own coffee, trying the myriad different beans out there on the world market (acquiring green beans is easy) and working our way through the many different degrees of roast that is possible with any given variety of bean. The practical aspect of it would be in spending a bit less on buying coffee each month (we spend around $25 per mt.) Im thinking that a group of around a half-dozen individuals would be a good place to start. Any joiners? We can meet here - for coffee and discuss the details in Feb. if enough interest is shown...
