Anyone still fool with Packet Radio? Back in 1991, I cobbled - TopicsExpress

Anyone still fool with Packet Radio? Back in 1991, I cobbled together a packet station with a used TNC and a beat-up, crystal operated HT. I was a member of the K6VE BBS in Los Angeles. About a year later I moved to Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley) and would occasionally connect to a couple of nodes there. I also remember the LONNY (London-New York gateway)--via that system, I could connect almost anywhere in Europe! Around 1995 I moved to a more distant part of the SFV, and had difficulty picking up any stations, so lost interest. Occasionally Id hear the APRS activity, but that was about it. There was also a Packet-Internet gateway, W2XO, where hams could read the Packet BBS messages via the web, and send mail....all gone now.
