Anyone that knows me realizes that I love to play bass and piano more than anything. I subbed for Bob Arken at Cleopatras Needle Sunday with Keith Ingram and Arnie Wise, who are a total delight to play with, as well as being long time friends. We played for theOpen Mic 4-8 session. After we finished, the waiter told Keiths wife to tell me to take my bass off the bandstand because there was going to be another group soon (no shit? Like I didnt know?) Then, to ad this insult, I learned that the trio only is paid $120 total for the gig! In order to make $50 each, there has to be tips, and the club was packed! I played Cleopatras in 1990 when the gig paid $100 each and they always fed the musicians. We miss you Tracy! The bass player that followed me said he was getting $35 for the night. Its an outrage.
