Anyone that truly knows Jerry, knows what a remarkable person he is. He is my love, my strength, my core, the most perfect example of a man that takes care of his family and puts the needs & wants of others before his own. So now that everthing has been scheduled & hopefully dates wont change again, I am sharing with those that care for us & want to know what we are going through. Jerry is scheduled for major back surgery on June 18th. After years of progressive disease in his spine and going through all the pain management regimens (if you have ever been on methadone or extended release morphine, long-term as your primary pain med & it still doesnt help, you may understand). He has been on a cocktail of multiple, dangerous pain meds in addition to high doses of the routine prescription pain meds plus anti-depressants, muscle relaxers, neuropathy meds, an electrical implant in his spinal column with a remote control for Gods sake! honestly I cant even detail it all, there is just so much. Just know that Jerry has had extreme pain in his back & legs thru his toes and med side effects for years & still gets up and goes to work (nearly everyday though some days & weeks the pain is just too much). But now it is time to take this step. The success rate is fairly high & we are encouraged & hopeful, but this is the last step. If this doesnt work or doesnt last, there isnt much else to offer. I admit, I am a bit nervous about it all & I think Jerry is too, though he would never admit it. He will be at Presby Allen for the surgery & will be there til Saturday at the latest if all goes well, then home for 6 weeks to 3 months, then back at work only parttime with limited duty for an unspecified time. I am asking for your prayers, positive thoughts to support us during all of this. It is greatly appreciated & I love you all, thank you!
