Anyone want a website up but dont relish the notion of actually maintaining it? Want your website copy to be edited before its live? Want your photos to pop off the page? So, Im nearing being able to bring my new website up and going (Ive been picky/procrastinating/doing other things because hey its fall, time to get s**t done outside!) but heres what Im going to be doing, throwing this out there mainly to see if theres any interest among the Facebook peeps. Ill be posting to Craigslist, among others, once Im 100% ready to take on clients I dont know. So what Im planning on offering is a service where I host a largely static website, and charge by the hour for any amount of time beyond a flat amount of time per month (currently toying with 4 hours/month.) Whether its design, maintenance, upload, editing copy and photos, or whatever needs to be done, a flat fee (still in the air atm, but negotiable). Hosting would be done through Amazons cloud services, and would be covered by the flat monthly fee (unless your traffic drives it beyond that...doubtful!) Most of the website would be built with Githubs Jekyll engine, and the pages would be responsive designs based on Twitters industrial-strength Bootstrap platform. At this time, Im considering doing mostly image websites, blogs, and the like. I work with mostly HTML5 and CSS, mostly static graphics, and might add some basic CSS3/HTML5 Canvas animation. The one thing I wont be offering is Flash; it was never a strength of mine, and its going the way of the dodo (yeah, thanks a lot, Steve Jobs. ;-)
