Anyone watching last nights Children in Need may have seen the below video of a young boy and girl using the Tobi Eye Gaze communication system. Like these children, Ciara has the same problems with regard to being unable to communicate with the world around her. Ciara herself, is in the very early stages of learning to use this system at her school. The potential to give Ciara the ability to communicate with her family, to play games, to draw and colour in pictures and to make choices in her life, is something that we are desperate to give her. At this time of year I would love nothing more than to know what she would like for Christmas! As such, Gayle and I are now looking in to the possibility of Ciara having her own Eye Gaze system, which could improve her quality of life beyond measure . However, like all equipment for children with disabilities, Eye Gaze comes with a hefty price tag. From what Ive read so far, we could easily be looking at a cost in the region of £15K!!! So, in 2015, while Team Ciara will continue to raise awareness of Rett Syndrome and fundraise for the charity, Reverse Rett, there will be an additional focus on providing Ciara with the equipment and therapy that will improve her day to day life....until that cure is found! Again, I cant thank enough everyone who has supported us so far. I just hope people understand that I just cant stop pushing......Ciaras life depends on it!
