Anyone who knows me at all knows who my hero is..and will always be...my Dad. N they know the absolute hardest thing Ive ever done is saying goodbye to him, and taking care of him while he was sick. Its been almost 4 years, and it is still as painful as it was early that Fathers Day morning when I held his hand as he took his last breathe. But I am SO thankful that I could somehow muster the strength to be there for him, in his hardest moments. Ive thought a million times of what more I couldve done for him. Ive often said I had to be his nurse n didnt have time to be his daughter. I had to be strong and focused n save my tears and fears for the times I was alone. But today I realized thats exactly what I was, a daughter who was so loved by this great man, I was doing exactly what his example taught me to do. To love him more than I loved myself. Thank You Dad. And I was doing what my Dad needed me to do. Even those tough moments are precious. And I know if I could see you now, youd have that big smile on your face, and youd say Good job, Jodie. And I love you for it. Thanks Pastor D. And I appreciate a pastor that can end his sermon sharing my tears.
