Anyone who thinks that his good works have any part in his justification before God, must necessarily work for himself and not for the glory of God. He is trying to earn something for himself. The Biblical faith is that forgiveness of sins is a free gift from God received by faith wholly apart from any good works. Hence, the believer is free to live wholly for the glory of God, in thankfulness for such great redemption.
