Anyone who turns on data roaming while travelling be aware. 14 - TopicsExpress

Anyone who turns on data roaming while travelling be aware. 14 million baht in a month seems impossible, but its not as impossible as this guy thinks. Say if this dude was in Hong Kong and uses AIS. His roaming charge would be .55 baht/KB. This translates to 25GB of data in a month. If he has fb installed and wasnt aware that fb does a lot of shit in the background he is screwed. Depending how many friends he has and how active they are, this bill is not as impossible as he thinks. The fb app by default refreshes your timeline every hr. You can turn it off, but I would say many people dont turn it off or even know it exists. Furthermore, fb has an video auto-play setting that was on by default when I tried to install the app last night. What this means, is that it automatically downloads any video that anyone of your friends posts. Then there are all the other push notifications and then who knows what the other apps do. No one would ever think about this because unlimited data is cheap here. Lesson, if you even think about using data roaming, make sure you know how all the apps you installed uses data in the background, especially shit like fb... I hope this dude has already looked into satisfying all the requirements for filing for bankruptcy. I dont think he has a chance.
