Anyone with UC help Sean? Sean Convery I have a pretty severe UC problem. I have been hospitalized twice in the past year, a week at a time, have not been symptom free in over two years, was initially diagnosed with proctitis 8 years ago at age 20. Things have just gotten progressively worse over time, and now are pretty unbearable. Steroids dont help much any more but I do seem to get bigger flares when I try to taper off. Remicade alone did not work, when I added Imuran things seem to improve but not 100% and I was taken off of both after two months because of my liver function tests coming back elevated. I just started humira last week, and am waiting to see improvements. I have spoke to a gi surgeon and can go for the j pouch surgery probably around late November. So I have to decide do I stick with the meds and keep trying different meds or do I have my colon removed? Its a tough decision for me, but as bad as my flares and symptoms get and are now, I cant help but lean towards surgery. Any thoughts out there? Unlike · · 4 hours ago via mobile Write a comment...
