Apart from pandering to the whims of the readers of the Sun and Daily Mail, I just cant grasp the governments stance in opposing the ruling of the European Court of human rights giving prisoners the right to vote!? I dont believe that committing a crime and going to gaol should exclude a person from having the right to decide who should represent their interests in parliament. After all, if we are serious about rehabilitation, surely that means creating responsible citizens from our prison population. Responsible citizenship involves having inalienable rights and using those rights to, hopefully, help create a better future by voting.
