Apologetics is not a dirty word and Christians are commanded to do it! Never back down from the word of God for all of scripture is profitable no matter what the world says for God is immutable = unchangeable but the world is changeable and changes all the time according to the philosophy of men and women. The German word is zeitgeist = the spirit of the age as according to the prevailing winds of the philosophies of men and women according to any given age or epoch in history. We all are familiar with the word poltergeist but let us add zeitgesit and immutability to our vocabulary when doing apologetics, witnessing and evangelism. Let us speak with authority. The Zeitgeist (spirit of the age or spirit of the time) is the intellectual fashion or dominant school of thought that typifies and influences the culture of a particular period in time. In folklore and paranormal studies, a poltergeist phenomenon alludes to the apparent yet unexplained manifestation of multiple force reactions caused by a seemingly invisible entity. Geist can mean ghost. With these two German words try and grasp the meaning of the “zeit” or prefix of zeitgeist = “time” or “age”. When Christ came He gave us testimony about heaven and that testimony was based upon what is called a posteriori evidence from the empirical side upon answering that Epistemological question of How do you know?, for epistemology is the science of knowing in reference to any given truth claim put forth. The philosophies of men and women most often deal with the rational side of the equation wherein they utilize what is called a priori evidence so dont be confused, remembering that Satan is the author of confusion. He want you to follow the path of the Zeitgeist. So in addition to Zeitgesit and Immutabilty add the term ad populum = the logical fallacy of an appeal to what is popular or in vogue as determinative of truth. For example: They teach evolution in public schools so it must be correct. The applicable German word here again is Zeitgeist wherein geist = spirit and Zeit = age or the spirit of the given culture at a time or given age one lives in as to what is fashionable. As a Christian we must teach. Simply put you must explain what a logical fallacy is to the listener. You begin by explaining that it is an error in the chain of reasoning. Keep in mind that they may be pushing a rationalism in example that the truth lays in Feminism. Yet a LOGICAL FALLACY IS REALLY UNCLEAR THINKING BASED UPON THE RULES OF LOGIC and is universally accepted as being a wrong method of logical discussion even within the philosophical community. Kind of like this: Because everybody is doing it is your argument, ok I hear you but is that your best shot for that statement is a logical fallacy so do you have any logical a posteriori or a priori evidence to contribute to our dialogue or discussion. Always be polite and do so by asking permission to ask and also by remembering the question format: How did you come to that conclusion?
