Apologies for the delay. Here are the instructions for the Envisioning exercise I mentioned at the meeting yesterday: 1. Start by calming the mind with 3 deep breaths. Then bring gentle awareness to the breathing. Bring attention to the in and out breaths, and the spaces in between. Do this for several moments, non-judgmentally acknowledging and letting go of distractions when they arise, always returning to concentrate on the breath. 2. Now use your concentration to visualize the following scene: You are attending a talk as part of a large audience. Everybody in the audience, including you, is deeply touched and inspired by what the speaker is saying. That speaker is your future self twenty years from now. What is the speaker saying and how is it touching and inspiring to you? What about the speaker makes you look up to him/her? 3. Write down whatever comes to mind, prioritizing the act of writing over its quality. Whats important here is to verbalize your thoughts and feelings. Dont worry about mistakes; just write and keep writing. If you find yourself putting this off, I recommend setting a timer for 5 minutes and just doing it. Everybody can spare 5 minutes! Writing about your ideal self will open up the possibility of embodying it. At the very least, youll begin to discover your deepest values and motivations, which will be useful if youd like to become more integrated and effective as an individual and relationship node.
