Apologies for the long post, but I want to share, because its inspiring and it could be longer if I told you every inspiring moment of this week, but here is just one significant moment: As I sat at Cross Point tonight, Pastor Pete read Philippians 2:15, Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky. I turned to my friend and told her that I had randomly opened my bible and read that exact passage last night. Thats not a coincidence. The message continued. Pastor Pete will ask for a $1 donation on occasion, promising to use it for something really good! He then proceeded to share how our donations had been used. As they played a video of a young boy being injured, while wrestling, I felt the tears welling up in my eyes. They hadnt yet said what his injury was, but I knew it was head, neck and spinal related. After spending the weekend with a child I care for with a TBI, I couldnt help but think of him. I could hear his laugh, his cry and memories of him falling asleep on my shoulder as I read him Llama Llama Mad At Mama (his fav book). I could relate to the family in the video. I see how hard it is with a family who has a child with special needs. I see how much time, energy, money and love it takes to keep going. Situations like this can happen to anyone, not that we should live in a bubble, but what Im saying is that its so easy to take for granted what we do have. Its easy to focus on what we dont have, which leads to selfishness, greed and pride! I see a lot of this in American culture now. I want it and I want it now! Get rich quick schemes, quick fixes and fast food. NO!!!! Id be a hypocrite to say, I havent fallen into this way of life before. I have it all figured out, but I do know this way of life and I know the misery it brought me. Dont you want to feel ALIVE more than ever? Dont spend your life going through the motions. Work your butt off, but take time to enjoy moments, buy fresh produce and actually cook a meal, oh and please get off your phone and pay attention to your children and loved ones right in front of you. Also, dont do what Im doing right now, dont spend too much time on social media. Get out of your head and see the bigger picture, love on everyone you can love on and be grateful for everything in your life. So... Now that Im done ranting, this story ends pretty happily. Our church so beautifully paid for one month of medical expenses for this child, hes recovering and working on walking again. I guess its true, when love is in everything you do, you shine.
