Apologies for the temporary lapse in transmissions on here. Fergus has had a mini-break, followed by over a week of hacking. Meanwhile this week has errupted in cobtastic drama as my old lad, J, decided to spew a few litres of fluid out of his lungs after a hack the other night, resulting in a little stay at the horsey paradise belonging to the vets... I schooled F for the first time in a couple of weeks this afternoon and it would be fair to say Ive encountered tamer dragons! He spent half the session leaping, launching and gallivanting on two legs. I strongly suspect he is auditioning to join gambollers anonymous ;) Despite the acrobatics, he did some nice alternating travers-renvers-SI work in trot, and gave some really smart trot work. He also provided some decent lead changes (as close to flying as we can manage!) and some very uphill collected canter work :) I was really working on forwards and back, pushing him out of his comfort zone. I took advantage of his attitude - he was certainly offering enough! - and I felt it made sense to capitalise on his cockiness and really push him. Id rather he was willing to thow himself around and try and give me the stuff Im after, than sat quietly under me in his safe zone. Today may not have been one of our pretty days, but I think it was rather educational!
