Apologies to my Facebook family and friends for letting it get way past time for an update on my condition. An abscess from bone infection came on seemingly very suddenly and landed me in the hospital the 9th of July. (UAMS) Because of where the infection was, I didnt know what was going to happen or what to expect, so I didnt want anything much said until I knew the extent of it. After the first surgery, (July 13) there were severe reactions to anesthesia, post-op meds and then a diagnosis of hospital acquired pneumonia. So I was (lets say) disconnected from being able to communicate clearly for a period of about 12 days before pneumonia and other symptoms had cleared. At that point the doctors felt I was strong enough to have the closure surgery. They used light anesthesia for the 2nd surgery. (July 30) Thankfully, it was successful with no adverse reactions to anything. I was transferred to Baptist Health Extended Care Hospital 2 days later, (August 1) to finish the 4 weeks hospital bed rest required after that type of surgery. Ill still have 2 weeks of iv antibiotics to complete when I get home and will have to work my way back up (as far as sitting time, exercise and outings) very gradually. Projected date of arrival at home is the 29th of August! Grateful to have such good care, such great friends, the BEST family and to know that God is in control! Hard to figure sometimes why these things happen, which is why its such a gift to not have to ask or wonder, resting in comfort that its all being worked to the good. Love... is Life and keeps me going, for life without love wouldnt be worth living.
