Apostle John Welty A few days ago, I had the thought, Being mindful of the business of the day doesnt exclude us from maintaining the mind of Christ. We all have responsibilities in the world. We are all also responsible for proper handling of the gift we have received (Christ in Spirit and in Truth). It is not that we wear two (or three) hats or that we must juggle these responsibilities. We are taught and come to learn that even as we must learn to handle the knowledge of God responsibly, so must wet learn to handle the knowledge (and cares) of the world with consideration. We have not been called to isolate ourselves physically from the world. God has called us out of the system of the world but left us, at this time, physically in these bodies of flesh which impose physical needs upon us. The knowledge of the world is laced with philosophies. There are strings attached to it. We cannot take off the robes of the priesthood and mindlessly go about our day without suffering harm. This would be like working in a chemical plant without protective gear to protect skin, eyes, and lungs. So we must learn to identify those things which are both necessary and harmful so that our contact with them does not harm us. I see this at work. I cannot study and test my program on a running machine while all the guards are in place. I have to consider the dangers, take precautions, and make preparations to limit my exposure while doing what Im required to do. It would be easier to just dive in and get the job done but this would put myself and others at great risk for injury. We also have welders who must wear heavy leather garments and heat trapping head and face protection even on hot summer days. To build our equipment, we need to have welders but we also need them to be aware of the inherent dangers involved. We cannot allow comfort to dictate the clothing they wear. To do so would result in scars and blindness. While these examples provide obvious dangers, they are examples of how needful things can be harmful. While it is not so obvious, the cares of the world and needs of the flesh (routine of life) is even more dangerous. This is because of the numbing effect they can have on our spiritual senses. As I mentioned earlier n the knowledge of the world is laced. Intoxication can lead to very bad decision making and the knowledge of the world has an intoxicating effect on us when we are expressed to it without a barrier against its harmful impact. That barrier comes from stopping to reflect and discern (working with the anointing.)The choices we are making may not change the course of our day, but the choice to stop and reflect while going about our routine of life will preserve the state of our conscience from the contamination of knowledge laced with death. Thus we are commanded by Christ to take every thought captive, pray without ceasing, remain mindful of the instruction we receive through stewardship, and increase in the knowledge of Christ. For if we remain engaged with these things, we will not be overcome by ourselves, the world, and the devil. #s8w #apostlestoday
