Apparently the production company behind Benefits Street (which Ive never watched incidentally - exploitation of poor people is not my bag) are making a new programming for Channel 4 called Immigration Street. This is being filmed at Derby Road in Southampton which does make me lol a little bit as it brings back memories of school Geography field trips where we went to see a real deprived inner-city area. The street had been notorious in those days for prostitution and all the boys took great delight in taking pictures of the odd hooker hanging around outside houses. Later on as a student in Soton, I knew a few students who lived there cos it was cheap. There was a large ethnic population in the area. ANYHOW, I do wonder what has happened to the once leftists, avant-garde channel 4 - making stuff like this, apparently the production team have been using dodgy tactics to lure participants into behaving a certain way for the cameras. So wrong.
