Apparently there is going to be some big network tv reality show looking for the next American Weather Caster. News flash, I didnt get into tv weather to be a star. I love weather, forecasting weather and keeping people informed on potentially dangerous weather conditions. I truly enjoy the act of communicating weather information. Good luck on your tv series Ill be watching from my couch. With all do respect, this isnt for me. Heres the pitch I received today…. Hi Jon! Congratulations, this email is to confirm your SKYPE interview on: DAY: Wednesday, January 21st TIME: 2:30 PM EST (11:30 AM PST) Please reply back with your SKYPE NAME. Please also send us the attached app ASAP! We want you to show our casting director why YOU are different from every other meteorologist and why you should be Americas Next Weather Caster! We are excited to speak with you! I have attached our Casting Application, which is required from each potential participant in order to be considered for the show. Please PRINT & HAND SIGN this document ASAP. The best way to return the application is to scan / email back to us. Unfortunately, we cannot accept electronic versions of the application / release. WHAT TO WEAR: This is a casual interview, but keep in mind that it is a recorded interview that will hopefully be reviewed by production and network executives. Ladies, please do your make-up and leave your hair down. All in all, everyone should look presentable as you would want to be seen on television. Avoid solid white (especially for lighter skin tones) or solid black, bold stripes/prints and logos. Rich, jewel-toned colors are best. Also avoid hats and glasses (due to the glare) unless there is a specific need. WHAT TO EXPECT: I will guide you through the entire process, so no need to worry. Just be ready to talk candidly about your situation…the good, the bad and the ugly! Be yourselves and bring your energy! ON A TECHNICAL NOTE: Find a place in your home that is QUIET and WELL LIT. Avoid having a major light source directly behind you such as a bright lamp or window. The main lighting should be in front of you or overhead (but not directly above). Please be alone if possible, with only those participating in the interview, as friends and animals can be a distraction. Frame yourselves from the waist or chest up, taking care not to cut off your heads. SKYPE DIRECTIONS: WiFi can be spotty, so if possible, hard-wire into the internet, and make sure that all other programs are turned off. The only program that should be running is Skype. If you do not have Skype already, simply go to skype to set up an account. Once on the website, click on GET SKYPE and select Windows or Mac. Create a Username and download SKYPE!
