Apparently, this is the most pragmatic approach to deal with the Ebola phenomenon. This fight should be taken to West Africa with the primary objective of containing this epidemic. So far, all the interventions done are plausible, but seems not enough partly because efforts are dispersed and lack proper coordination. The different actors on the ground are trying to work on their own, but as it is right now to win this fight, there must be a concerted and well-coordinated effort to maximize resources available, and to better understand which interventions are provided by whom and where so that response could be swift and surgical in the event of an emerging deficiency. This strategy will also go a long way to allay the fears of the health workers on the ground, who are almost giving up because the response to this fight as they see it from the international community is not commensurate to the spread of the disease. The United States and Britain are making progress with the deployment of these soldiers. The European Union through the European Commission`s Emergency Response Coordination Center (ECCR) is airlifting supplies to the affected countries, and setting up medical evacuation systems to enable exposed international workers to be evacuated within 48hrs to specialized hospitals in Europe. These efforts are all great! But these organizations must work together for this response to be efficient. The response to Ebola today needs not only be effective, but above all efficient, and if we are not careful, working in disarray will weaken this fight. China have so far sent 200 medical workers and pledged $35 million promising more. Where is Putin and Russia? Russian Embassy in in Free Town, Sierra Leone donated part of a $38.00 consignment to the government of Sierra Leone according to the World Health Organization`s Regional Office for Africa. This is an African crisis in the first place! Where is the African Union? About three weeks ago African Union was sending 30 volunteers from Uganda, Rwanda, DRC, Nigeria and Ethiopia. This is very insulting to the African brand. What are African leaders thinking, 30 volunteers to Liberia? I am so offended that these leaders call up a meeting in Addis Ababa in the heart of this Ebola epidemic ravaging about 5 countries to elect 30 volunteers to go to Liberia alone. I guess It`s time to recolonize Africa.
