Appeal to International Community The Hasina Government of Bangladesh elected in an election without opposition in January 2014 is surviving in power by force. It lacks popular mandate. It is a mockery with democracy. It has lost the trust of the CHT indigenous people due to its failure to implement the CHT Accord and to restore democracy and peace in CHT even after 17 years. It remains obsessed in the Bangladeshs classical policy of demographic invasion and ethnic cleansing against the CHT indigenous people. It is undermining all prospects of peace and development in the region. Its unfortunate not only for the CHT indigenous people but also for Bangladesh at large. Its unacceptable. The CHT indigenous people want the Government of Bangladesh to implement the CHT Accord in letter and spirit without further delay for democracy, human rights, peace, and development in their traditional home which has been under a de facto Bangladeshi military rule since 1980s. CHT Human Rights Watch urges the international community to play an active constructive role in this regard. CHT Human Rights Watch 13 January 2015
