Apple Roly Poly Make up a scone mix & roll it out into a rectangle about 2 cm thick Grate 2 or 3 granny Smith apples (peeled) into a bowl. Add a handful of sultanas & a good pinch of cinnamon Spread onto the scone base & roll up to resemble a long scroll Slice into pieces about 1cm thick Grease a casserole dish with butter Place all scrolls tightly together in the dish squeezing together if necessary Sprinkle liberally with about 1 cup of brown sugar & then gradually pour over enough boiling water to cover the mix Use a large spoon to distribute the poured water gently Bake in a moderately hot oven until cooked through & the top is crunchy & brown Serve with custard, ice cream or cream
