Apple is identified as the most valuable brand in the world, according to the Best Global Brands 2013 survey conducted by Interbrand. The report estimates the value of brand Apple at $98.3 million. Apart from replacing soft drink brand Coca-Cola in the first position, Apple is known to have hit a record 9 million unit sales in five days of launching its iPhone5S. The report states that living up to the brand’s iconic “Think Different” campaign, Apple’s designers and engineers reimagined the operating system that powers the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The previous top brand, Coca-Cola fell to the third position with a brand value of $79.2 million. And Google emerged as the second most valuable brand in the world with a value of $93.2 million. Of the top 10 Best Global Brands for 2013, five belong to the technology sector: Apple (1); Google (2); Microsoft (5); Samsung (8); and Intel (9). Among other technology brands, Facebook performed well climbing to 52nd position from 69 last year. However, some technology brands Nokia (57) was considered to be the biggest faller among the 100 brands. And the Blackberry brand did not make it to the list this year. Among other brands, Chevrolet was a new addition to the list and is position at number 89.
