Applications for the Francis Regan Student Scholarship are open again. This could be an opportunity for a student to apply for a $1000 scholarship. Applications close on 15 June. The scholarship is awarded to a student in the Faculty of Education, Humanities and Law who is enrolled in a thesis/research project/creative project at Honours or Masters level dealing in some way with issues of social justice (in a broad definition of the term). It could, for example, be a thesis on disadvantaged students in schools, or a research project or creative project on the treatment of refugees, or a study of literary works dealing with social justice issues. There are many other topics that could be appropriate: if, in any way, the research/creative topic can be seen to be concerned with social justice then you are eligible to apply. Please follow this link for further information. flinders.edu.au/scholarships-system/index.cfm/scholarships/display/b03037. You should provide your details and also attach the three statements required: • Summary of research project (a brief description of the project demonstrating its concern with social justice issues) • Statement detailing commitment to social justice (a student could simply provide a simple statement of the student’s continuing interest in these issues of social justice or of their taking of courses in the area or it could be a record of relevant paid or volunteer work) • Statement detailing how the scholarship will benefit the applicant (the funds could be used for living expenses or for the costs of undertaking the research or anything else that would help the student do the project, e.g. child care) If you have any queries, please email [email protected].
