Applied for disability last April for the third time in 8 years. - TopicsExpress

Applied for disability last April for the third time in 8 years. The previous two only took a few months before I got the according to our rules you are not disabled letter. This time its taking a lot longer, so I started looking at how the process actually works. Works like any bureaucracy, of course, they swing into action at the speed of all government employees, firing off letters demanding the applicant do all the legwork collecting medical records. They mull those over for a while, and if they decide you have a legit case they send it to the states DVR (Department of Vocational Rehabilitation) to see if you can be retrained for another kind of work so they can rule you not disabled. If it passes that hurdle it gets sent back to the SS disability specialist. Who then sent me a letter saying they had somehow lost one of the X-rays of my lower spine, so on Dec 3rd I went in for another X-ray. Then got another you must respond in 10 days letters, so I called the number and she said that was sent in error, I should get the results by the end of the month. Dec 31 came and went, so I called her back, was informed that my case was sent for quality review on Dec 20th. Apparently 1 out of 100 cases are pulled for this quality review, where they can overturn any previous decisions. Allegedly youre supposed to get a letter informing you about the quality review but I havent heard squat yet.
