Applying for lots of jobs but not getting any interviews? Ive been reviewing CVs this week for job seekers who just arent getting invited to interviews. Theres a common theme which is understandable when youre out of work or desperate to move from a job thats making your life a misery. In this situation, job seekers say (or imply), Ill do anything! which to them means: Im willing, adaptable and quick to learn! Employers hear (or infer): I dont care what I do. I dont care about your company in particular or your customers; just give me a job! When you dont get specific on your CV about what you want to do, what youre passionate about, what you love about this particular opportunity, you are saying: Ill do anything. So, spend some time, imagining the best case scenario for a change. Describe your dream job. Write it down. Be specific. If you aim for the stars, you might just land on the moon!
