Applying the Rules of the Group We had an unfortunate incident yesterday where some group members felt hard done by because their contributions to the group was removed without consultation. That is what I can deduce from discussions with them. That is over, but I suspect not resolved, so lets get this straight... That unfortunate incident left a bad taste in many members mouths, and for that we apologise. It should have been nipped in the bud, and not allowed to grow and spiral out of control. But as with everything in life, there is a purpose, and if that thread was responsible for you reading this then it was a good thing. Now, back to the business of managing this group. That task befalls myself and the Admin Team. We have compiled a set of rules to ensure the smooth running of this group. These rules are exactly the same rules as those that has been governing the Hilux4x4.co.za Forum since its inception in 2007. They work! And we will keep them, and they wont change.... At least not now, and never as a result of a fall-out like we had yesterday. On this group there is only one reason that your post/photograph/meme/contribution will be deleted. If it does not conform to the rules, it is gone. No discussions will be entered into, you should know the rules and know what can and cant be posted. We do not delete posts because we dont like the profile pic on your FB page, or we dont like where you live or what rugby team you support. Hell we dont even really care what car you drive!! It is not personal from our side, dont make it personal from your side. Just a few words on photographs. We all want to post our pics of how brave we are, but if those pictures shows you breaking the law, it will be removed. It is that easy. So pictures of your dashboard showing the needle at 180? Gone. Now you know.. Pictures of your Hilux driving on the beach where it is not allowed? Gone, without a doubt.. Same with pics of your Hilux parked on pristine fynbos, breaking new tracks and destroying the environment. If it even LOOKS like it could possibly be in a position where somebody might interpret it as damaging to the environment, it is gone.... Sorry guys, we must be clear on that! The 4x4 community (you and me) is under attack ALL the time from people who want to close down every single spot where we can use our 4x4s to enjoy this awesome country that we live in. Hilux4x4.co.za Group will NOT give them ammunition to use against us. We promote and stand for responsible 4x4 on and off road driving and protection of the environment. Stick within those boundaries and you will be fine!! If there is any doubt from your side, dont post your picture... Pictures also do not have context. It can be interpreted in a different way by each and every member of this group. If you post a picture that can be misinterpreted, the Admin team reserves the right to asked you to explain and add context. Failure to do so will result in the picture being removed. It is that easy. Inappropriate pictures will be removed. If you have to ask what inappropriate pictures are, refer to the rules, it is very clearly documented there. Basically anything you dont want your 6 year old to show his/her teacher.... It is an open group, and we have kids on this group, dont corrupt their young minds with your rubbish. Be part of the solution, not part of the problem. Posts containing swear words, foul language, insults, personal threats, or any anti-social comments are also not allowed. We saw an increase of people swearing in posts lately. We dont have time to remove each and every single one, so whole threads get deleted. If you are one of the cussers then you are doing this group harm. Please check your language. Once again the kids thing... dont corrupt them. Please. Memes (those cutesy little pictures with the comments on them) are included in this!! Inappropriate.. Please guys get with the program. These guys from yesterdays little spat asked to be deleted from the group. We will not grant you your wish. You came here by yourself, you can leave on your own again. We are not in the business of banning/deleting people off the group. Its very simple, you can remove yourself. As with everything in life, you have choices, it is up to you which one you choose.... Your choices here are as follows..... you can stick to the rules, and have a good time, or you can leave and have a good time somewhere else if the rules of this group is too tight for you to express yourself.... We are not going to beg you to stay, if you cannot stick to the rules, and we are not going to change the rules to suit your style... Rest assured though, if you keep on breaking the rules and making a nuisance of yourself, you will be deleted/removed from the group, but that will be at Admins discretion. The Admin team has enough work to keep themselves busy without having to take on the task of educating the masses. If you have a problem with an Administrators decision then contact me, and we can discuss it, if we wronged you, we will apologise, and fix what we can. We are like that... If you take your gripes to the open group, you involve 5600 other people who have nothing to do with your problem... They dont come here to watch you flex your muscles... they are here to read about Hiluxes and the great outdoors... In such cases the threads, such as what happened yesterday, will be deleted, and if you persist, so will you. The group is not about you, it is about the 5600 other people..... This group reserves the right through the Admin team to protect its own integrity, image and reputation from anybody who want to do it harm. To those who came up in defense of Admin yesterday, and those who understand the job we do, we thank you for your co-operation and we apologise for putting you through that torture as well.... Now lets get on with business.... Please one more thing... If you feel you have to post a comment on this post, can you stick to English? (y)
