April 2014 Police Beat *Officers were dispatched to the Rochester High School on 04/01/14, as school was starting. Dispatch notified the officers a 15 year-old male juvenile was out of control and breaking out windows. When the officers arrived the student was walking in the hallway with a school administrator. The juvenile was escorted to the principal’s office, prior to being removed from the school and taken to the police department. A report regarding the incident was forwarded to the juvenile authorities. *A vehicle stop conducted on 04/05/14, at about 2:50p.m., resulted in the arrest of Danielle Rousey of Springfield, for allegedly driving on a suspended driver’s license. *On 04/06/14, an officer was sent to a residence on Potomac Drive in regards to a reported residential burglary. The resident reported he arrived home from work and found that numerous items had been taken from the residence. There were no signs of forced entry. The officer learned that the victim was involved in an ongoing domestic situation. After the officer made contact with several others who were familiar with the situation, it was discovered that the items had been removed from the residence by another family member, and the incident didn’t appear to be a criminal matter at this time. The victim was advised to contact his attorney for assistance. *An officer reported stopping a vehicle on 04/06/14, at about 3:30p.m. as he noticed the person driving the vehicle matched the registered owner who had an expired driver’s license. During the stop, the driver of the vehicle handed the officer a pipe and other drug paraphernalia which she stated had been used for smoking crack cocaine. Other than the traffic citation, no additional charges have been filed as yet. *A construction site on Potomac Drive was the location of a theft which was reported to the police on 04/06/14, at 8:30p.m. Approximately $200 worth of construction materials were stolen from the site sometime between 8:00p.m. on 04/05/14, and 8:30p.m. on 04/06/14. *A vehicle which was pulled over for a reported non-functioning headlight resulted in the arrest of the driver for allegedly driving on a revoked license. Antonio Haynes, of Springfield, was cited for driving on a revoked license on 04/12/14, at 11:45p.m. He was taken to the Sangamon County Jail. *Michael Fuller, of Riverton, was stopped by the police on 04/14/14, and on 04/15/14. The police report indicates he was given citations on both occasions for allegedly driving on a suspended the license. The stop on 04/15/14, resulted in his vehicle being towed. *At 11:40a.m. on 04/15/14, officers were sent to the Rochester Junior High School to a reported disturbance. Officers arrived and learned a junior high school student had become angry while in a classroom. He was asked to leave the classroom and go to the office. School personnel reported he continued to cause problems after leaving the classroom. They reported he punched a filing cabinet damaging the cabinet and threw his Chromebook damaging the device. He was escorted out of the school by the police. A report was sent to the juvenile authorities. *A vehicle being driven by a subject wanted on a warrant was stopped on 04/16/14 at 7:40p.m. The report indicates the officer was behind the vehicle on Route 29 when the vehicle pulled into the Camelot subdivision. The officer waited a short time for the vehicle to come out of the subdivision and then stopped the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Josephine Reding, of Marsielles, was found to be wanted on a warrant which had been issued by LaSalle County authorities. Reding was taken to the Sangamon County Jail. *A resident on Wyndmoor Drive reported to the police on 04/23/14, his pool liner had been damaged in early April. Suspect(s) sliced the liner in 3 different areas causing approximately $300 in damages. *Steven Rosinski, of Pana, was stopped by the police on 04/23/14, at 3:00p.m. During the stop, the officer learned Rosinski was wanted on a warrant which had been issued by Christian County authorities. *On 04/28/14, at about 9:10p.m. an officer was checking on a reported suspicious vehicle which was in the Rochester Village Park parking lot. The officer noticed the vehicle was occupied and made contact with the driver. As the driver rolled down the window, the officer reported smelling marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. The three juveniles who were in the car admitted they had been smoking marijuana and turned over the remaining marijuana to the officer. Parents were notified and arrangements were made to transport the juveniles to the parents. Reports have been forwarded to the Sangamon County Juvenile Authorities.
