April 22nd, 2014 I became a recipient from an organ and tissue donor. The family of the donor disclosed the information in order to learn how many people their loved one saved or improved the lives of with their final act of generosity. Being one of up to 50 people, I know I owe it to them to write this letter but thank you doesnt seem to cover it. As a recipient I feel like I can say thank you by encouraging more people to sign up to give the gift of life. If you are an organ donor having it on your drivers license is not enough. Talk to your family as they may be asked to sign a consent form. Make sure you are registered with your states Organ Donor Registry. Over 28,000 lives were saved last year from transplants by organ donations. Another one million people had their lives changed by tissue donations. Eighteen people will die today waiting for a transplant. Please consider becoming a donor. ...xo-m
