April Jones killer Mark Bridger launches bid for compensation The murdered schoolgirls parents says it is disgusting that he could be paid as much as £15,000 in compensation after prison slashing The man convicted of murdering schoolgirl April Jones has launched a bid for compensation after being attacked in jail, it has been reported. Fellow inmate Juvinal Ferreira attacked Mark Bridger with a knife made out of a razor at top security Wakefield Prison, West Yorkshire, in July. According to a report in The Sun, Bridger, 47, has told lawyers he wants a payout for the emotional and physical distress he claims he suffered after the attack. In similar cases, pay outs have been as large as £15,000 in compensation. In contrast, Aprils parents Paul and Coral Jones can expect a maximum of £5,500 each, following the murder of their five-year-old daughter. April Jones Coral, 41, told The Sun: Its disgusting that Bridger could get money after what he has done. Wheres he going to spend it anyway? Bridger required more than 30 stitches to the face wound, which required surgery under general anaesthetic. He will be scarred for life after the prison attack. A Prison Service spokeswoman said: We robustly defend all compensation claims from prisoners.
