April has had some very encouraging progress. She is speaking more - TopicsExpress

April has had some very encouraging progress. She is speaking more clearly and coherently, and more often. Earlier this evening she took it upon herself to go downstairs by herself and do some laundry in the basement. She tidied up the bedroom and living room. Rearranged some things on the upper floor. Situated the dog food bowls into a different area. But the most encouraging thing was at the mall the other day, where she and I were sitting on the lower level of the mall at a Starbucks, and had shopping bags and coats. She wanted to go up to the second level to where there is a bathroom. I immediately started gathering our things up so that I could go up there with her. She looked at me and said no! And had me sit back down. Then she went up the escalator all by herself, and then later came back down on the elevator all by herself. I was a nervous wreck worried the whole time, and I was relieved when I saw her coming off of that elevator. But I was overjoyed to see just another step towards healing and independence for her. Even though it might seem like a small thing, it was a very big thing. On Tuesday It has been five months since the stroke, and while there is still more recovering to do, and still many frustrations, she is making very encouraging strides. She told me in no uncertain terms that she is bothered by her right arm not recovering terribly well, and that she has no desire to do things she used to love to do, like crocheting and cooking, because of the lack of functionality with the right arm. But overall, everyday, there is optimistic progress, and we are all communicating so much better together. Glory be to God. Thank you for all of your prayers, love, and support.
