Apropos of nothing, my fixation on the Smart Fortwo has ramped up now that the next revision will have a proper manual transmission option, but I think theyre missing a trick in marketing these cars primarily to urban people. If I lived in a city, Id use a bike, a motorcycle/scooter, and public transportation, but the Smart is just absolutely perfectly situated for those of us who live in fully-functional towns just outside of big cities who (A) dont want to live in the city, (B) do want to do stuff in the city, and (C) dont want the hassle of horking some bigass truck or car around a city and trying to find the three available parking spaces in any groovy neighborhood. I have to laugh, though, seeing ads clearly targeted to the so-called hipster contingent when that demographic wouldnt touch a Smart to save their lives. Marketing, people—marketing. Point out that its the perfect size for a simple synthesizer rig and a little amp and Im in, baby. Then again, I may not be much of a demographic.
