Aquatic Leader 1 Job Code: 2014-AL1 Duration: Auxiliary / On Call / Seasonal Salary: $25.11 per hour Description The goal of the City of Burnaby and its employees is to consistently deliver first class service and services to our community. We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic individuals to provide supervision and administration of aquatic instructional and recreational programs. These positions work out of our indoor or outdoor aquatic facilities on-call or on assigned shifts. The City of Burnaby has eight (four indoor and four outdoor) pools. Indoor pools are located at Bonsor Recreation Complex, CG Brown Pool, Eileen Dailly Leisure Pool and Edmonds Aquatic and Community Centre. Outdoor pools include: Central park Outdoor Pool, Kensington Outdoor Pool, McPherson Outdoor Pool and Robert Burnaby Outdoor Pool. The Aquatic Leader 1 supervises a group of staff engaged in instructional, lifeguarding, maintenance, custodial and clerical/cashiering work. Along with participating in aquatic program development and promotion, and conducting orientation and in-service training, and performing evaluations on staff, duties also include assisting in conducting maintenance and custodial programs ensuring that all pumps, filters, chlorinators and related water treatment equipment are properly functional while maintaining established standards of cleanliness and safety, and preparing and maintaining a variety of records and reports related to the work. The ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal, problem solving, supervisory organizational effectiveness and communication skills. They should also have experience with lifeguard/instructor related duties and pool operation/maintenance. The following licences and current certifications are required: Red Cross Water Safety Instructor Certificate Lifesaving Society Instructor Certificate National Lifeguard Service Award CPR Certificate – Level C (current within 1 year) Aqua Fitness Certificate, AED Certificate, Pool Operator’s Certificate and valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License are considered assets.
