Aquino leaves for China, Myanmar - PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III left Sunday morning for China and Myanmar to participate in two major regional conferences. The government has earmarked around P24 million for Aquinos four-day trip to Beijing and Nay Pyi Taw where he will attend the 22nd Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders’ Meeting and 25th Asean Summit, respectively, said Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa Jr. The amount earmarked for the trip covers expenses for transportation, accommodation, food, equipment and other requirements of the Chief Executive and his delegation. In his departure speech, Aquino said as the Philippines will be hosting next years APEC meeting, he will show to the participants the countrys readiness for next years event. Bilang chair at host ng APEC sa susunod na taon, ipapamalas natin ang kahandaang magsilbing lunsaran ng pag-arangkada ng ating mga ekonomiya tungo sa malawakan at pangmatagalang kaunlaran, he said. He also assured that from his trips, the Philippines will surely benefit. Gaya ng lagi, doble-kayod tayong makikipag-ugnayan sa ibang mga bansa upang mas mapabuti at mas mapabilis ang paghahatid natin ng benepisyo sa ating mamamayan, Aquino said. In the two conferences, Aquino will be accompanied by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert Del Rosario, Trade Secretary Gregory Domingo, Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima, Socio-Economic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan, Presidential Management Staff Chief Julia Andrea Abad and Presidential Protocol Chief Celia Anna Feria. Presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda and Social Secretary Susan Arnaiz will also join the President in China, while Cabinet Secretary Jose Rene Almendras and Press Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. will be part of the delegation to Myanmar.
