Aquino warns Filipinos against siding with non-allies in 2016 Posted on Tuesday Sep 16th at 11:12am By Louis Bacani MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III urged Filipinos to side with potential 2016 candidates who support the reforms of his administration. Speaking to about 800 Filipinos in Brussels, Aquino said there will be two kinds of candidates in the next elections. The first kind, Aquino said, are those who will continue his initiatives - from policies on the economy to social welfare. He said the second kind of candidates are those who have consistently opposed the efforts of his administration. Aquinos remarks came after still failing to name his preferred presidential candidate in 2016. In a dialogue with government officials at the Palace on Friday, Aquino said he will name his bet at the right time even if some politicians are already posturing for the next polls. Among these politicians is Vice President Jejomar Binay, who was not present at the Palace event. On Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said it is up to Binay to answer whether he is an ally of the administration. READ: Palace: VP Binay will say if hes our ally or foe
