Arab Spring Compass - Pointing in the wrong Direction! Public opinion for Islam is reflected in the Arab World through the Muslims penchant towards Islam and their rallying around those who hold its banners. This is one of the reasons that led the US to devise a new strategy for the Greater Middle East and propose it to the industrial powers in 2004 in order to rein in the Islamic expansion and neutralise its threat to their interests before the situation got out of hand, especially after the barrenness of the secular address that never expressed the thought and the proclivity of the masses. The Western powers proceeded with the American initiative as they deemed Islam to be a common threat that undermined the interests and the values of the West. Hence, America sacrificed her agents who had served her for decades such as Ben Ali, Gaddafi, Mubarak and Ali Abdullah Saleh. This offered the masses a chimerical victory and lent the traditional Islamic movements, which became grateful to America, some value because the masses began to view them as the salvagers. America found in those movements the fitting alternative to contain the resentment of the masses, sidestep their volition, distort their awareness and reproduce the regime through them, as was the case in Morocco and Tunisia and is expected to happen in the other Arab countries when the notion of concordance ripens thanks to the concoction of strife and ethnic and sectarian fragmentation. This will guarantee the dominion of the secular minority over the key positions in government and subjugate the masses and the conservative leaderships of the moderate movements or pave the way for a generation of Islamic movements which will accept to coexist with the secularists and share power under their leadership and the sovereignty of the capitalist ideology. Hence, the revolutions of the Arab Spring enabled the masses to give vent to their anger and to divert their attention towards changing the rulers rather than changing the regimes; it was a magic formula to protect the regimes and the Western values against collapse before the thought of Islam. The revolutions, however, helped the masses break through the barrier of fear and were deemed a solution to the crisis afflicting the secular state and its stereotypical image of being linked to oppression and dictatorship which was embedded in the minds of the masses. This is the reality of the political situation which the pragmatists known as moderates and centrists could not perceive. Their stakes have been lowered under the pressure of reality, to the point where they would now accept the shape or the name of the Islamic State but not its essence, under the guise of gradualism. However, reality has proved that they had not been proceeding gradually towards implementing Islam but towards “democracy” and “civil society” that emanates from the doctrine of separating religion from life; this is conspicuously reflected in the Turkish model which has not exceeded in its intellectual and political dimensions a partial success in lifting the ban imposed upon Islam and placing it on equal footing Christianity and the other religions within the framework of secularism. This was after Islam had been banned to the exclusion of other religions, and unwittingly, the Muslims cheered and rejoiced and deemed this a victory for Islam whereas in fact it was a victory for secularism and an immunisation for it against the threat of Islam. The Turkish experience has only led to consolidating the secularism and nationalism of the state and has enabled NATO to hijack the Turkish army and integrate it into the camp of Kufr that harbours deep hatred for Islam and the Muslims. Therefore, the centrist Islamic movements have accepted to assume the role that the Christian reformist movements had assumed which culminated in separating religion from life and coexisting with it. So will the Muslims continue to be bitten from the same hole again and again? Follow what you are taught by inspiration from your Lord: there is no god but He: and turn aside from those who join gods with Allah.
