Arabtec wins new $490m Dubai high-rise contract Arabtec has announced that it has won a $490m (AED1.8bn) contract to build a new 77-storey, 369m-high tower on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai.The contractor did not name the client, but said the mixed-use tower will be one of the ten highest buildings in Dubai and the 26th-tallest building in the world. It will be built around one block away from the Burj Khalifa - the 828m-high tower which is the worlds tallest building on which it worked alongside Samsung Engineering.It will have over 22,000m2 of space on 18 floors, 908m2 of retail and a six-star hotel with serviced apartments that will take up 25 floors. It will contain 350 rooms and 83 serviced apartments. The tower will also house a further 180 apartments.The tower has been designed by Atkins. Construction is set to begin this month and will take 42 months to complete.Artabtec CEO Hasan Abdullah Ismaik said: Our appointment to to build this high-rise building in the heart of Dubais business centre is a strong endorsement of our unique capabilities in delivering high-quality, complex structures.This project is another sign of the recovery of the property sector in the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa region.
