Arcoa do Rua Augusta, Lisboa, Portugal I was blessed to have a show in a gallery in Lisbon, Portugal. I went to be there for the opening and planned to stay another 8 days to do some camera work. The opening was a disaster! The only one Ive ever had that was like that. However, I was able to make some nice photographs while there. This is the ceiling of a huge arch in the downtown area. It was hilarious, I was working away on this very early on a Saturday morning and I kept hearing a drum beat. Not being from the area and not knowing local customs my curiosity was way up. After about 20 minutes of that a group of runners came into sight and they would beat the drum wildly as each runner crossed the line. Interesting. This is the second photograph I did of this place. I had photographed it several days earlier and, without thinking, left the film holders (T-Max 100 readyloads) in a box in my pack. I hiked the 600 ft decline to Praia da Ursa to photograph the rocks. While I was setting up for it an unexpected wave covered me waist deep in North Atlantic sea water. It got my pack as well and carried all my exposed, unprocessed film to the bottom of the sea. Neptune probably has my photographs on the walls of his palace.
