Are Arsenal set to be the English Galacticos! Arsene Wenger - TopicsExpress

Are Arsenal set to be the English Galacticos! Arsene Wenger has turned the tides for now, but how far can he go? by KM With an FA cup, three world cup winners (possibly a fourth?) and a marquee signing, Wenger seems to have turned his fortunes and regained the love and confidence round the Arsenal players and the supporters. With an early signing to get the fans buzzing, has the manager actually addressed the problems we’ve had in recent seasons ? For the last 2 seasons we only had Giroud up front. We need a new right back and although Debuchy had a medical according to the papers and seems wrapped up he’s not yet announced. We might also take a right back form Atletico and loan Jenko. Another thing we’ve missed is a solid defensive midfielder and the papers are flooding with Khedira / Bender reports. About Khedira’s wages which seem to stall the deal it’s a bit strange how years gone by we didn’t want to pay more than 90k a week and suddenly we splash 150 grand / week to our last 2 signings. But the fact is we’ve really missed a player like Khedira since the time Gilberto Silva left. My only problem is what will be left for other transfers if we pay Sami what he wants? Even If we sign a fourth German WC winner we still have other areas to cover. A new CB would be lovely since Vermaelen’s situation looks uncertain and his confidence last season was pretty poor. We also need a keeper and we’re looking closely at the Colombian keeper who’d be a good challenge for that number one spot Szczesny has for free right now. Imagine if we sign all those players? What then? Does that mean Arsene is prepared with his homework? Who is behind the success of our transfer window so far? Did Gazidis tell Wenger – “Give me the names and i’ll bring them!” ? Apparently the Puma deal has injected some money to spend and if we pull off those signings our targets will certainly change. An FA cup will not be good enough. Those players will arrive here to win the big stuff. Just imagine the Arsenal line up with Khedira, Ozil and Sanchez – alongside the improved Aaron Ramsey and Walcott. Is Arsenal on the brink of becoming an English version of the “galacticos” made of German steel? Dare we dream about it! Konstantin Mitov
