Are You A Friend of Christ? August 5th, 2013 It’s a wonderful day to be a child of God? Have you ever lost the friendship of someone you adored so much? As time went on, the two of you grew apart. Have you ever had an intense argument with someone you respect? Your opinion about something was not accepted by the other person. Have you ever prayed to God for a friend who could understand what you were going through? At your lowest point, you prayed for someone who could understand all you have endured. Many times in our lives, we find ourselves seeking friendship from anyone who appears to care about us. Knowing nothing about them, we open up and tell all of our business. Have you been there? Are you there now? Today, I have been commissioned to come and minister to you. While you are seeking friendship from your peers, allow me to ask you a question. Are You A Friend of Christ? In your search for friendship, have you become a friend to the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible declares in John 15:15 - Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of My Father I have made known unto you. The friendship you desire to have is temporary, but the friendship Christ offers is eternal. My friend, until you become a friend of Christ, you will never be able to befriend someone else. You may get along with them, but you have not established a covenant. Are You A Friend of Christ? The Bible declares in Exodus 33:11 - And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend … My brother, my sister, have you made yourself available for the friendship of Christ? It is amazing, we feel comfortable asking Christ to bless us and protect us, but we do not feel comfortable becoming His friend. The Bible declares in Proverbs 17:17 - A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity. Are You A Friend of Christ? Think about all of the people you know. Think of all the things you have endured in life. Besides Christ, who else was there with you? The Bible declares in Proverbs 18:24 - A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother. In spite of all you have experienced in life, Christ remained loyal to you. When everyone else exit the back door, Christ promised to remain (Hebrews 13:5). Are You A Friend of Christ?
