Are You Living in Freedom or Guilt? It’s time to break off the chains of guilt that have held us in bondage and be set free! “If anyone is in Christ, he is a NEW creation; the old has gone, the new has come!” 2 Corinthians 5:17. If we are a new creation (and we ARE), then there is no room for old junk to permanently return to our lives. We can’t go backwards with Jesus. Just because we stumble in sin or think about the “old” life, doesn’t mean we are scum, terrible, or need to get saved again, etc. “We have ALL sinned and come short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23. BUT, thank God we are RIGHTEOUS because Jesus, our Savior, paid the price on the cross for us. Yes, the price has already been paid! We mustn’t listen to the devil, the accuser, as he whispers in our ears how terrible we are, that we will sin again, or that God is angry with us for letting Him down. Garbage, lies!!! “Jesus paid it ALL, all to Him I owe. Sin hath left a crimson stain, but He (my redeemer) washed it white as snow!!!!!” “What can wash away my sins? Nothing but the blood of Jesus. What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus.” Amen to these two great hymns that describe freedom! It’s done! The price has been paid! This is summed up in one loving word, “GRACE.” Grace is greater than all our sins. That’s why we sing about that Amazing Grace! Nothing surprises our Heavenly Father, nothing. When we sin (mess up), we somehow feel that God is shocked and heavily disappointed. Sorry, my friends, that is not the case. He knew before we were even born that we would sin. But we are forgiven because of His righteousness. He has and will always love us. “You are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people ‘belonging to God,’ that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light (Jesus).” Let’s memorize the following scripture and get it deep within our heart so when the accuser (devil) starts trying to make us feel guilty over our lives in regards to something we have done or said, we can fight back with God’s Word that is sharper than any two-edged sword! “I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus!” 2 Corinthians 5:21. Nothing earned, but a free gift (righteousness) for being God’s child. I love free gifts and I love being God’s child!
