Are some of you familiar with the TV series Curse of Oak Island. According to the plot of the series, two brothers plus others are searching for lost treasure on Oak Island, an island near Nova Scotia. Their hopes involve finding such treasures as The Ark of The Covenants and other long lost treasures. Their story has it that the Knights Templers moved these treasures from the Temple of Solomon to England, then to several different places in France and then to Scotland. From Scotland they supposedly took the treasures by ship to Nova Scotia and buried it somewhere on Oak Island. My question is, Could this treasure (or the story of it) have been one of the underlying reasons that the British were so hell bent on ridding Acadia of all French who did not swear allegiance to their King? It has always seemed to me that there had to be a more compelling reason than just the Swearing of Allegiance for such a monstrous movement.
