On on hand I must agree with Murray, there are way too many under prepared students coming out of high school graduations, all crossed america signing up for grewing academia 4 year degree. But on the other hand I believe that anybody that wants it bad enough is capable of going as far as they want in the academic world of education regardless of their starting point. As Murray discuss is his article the main determining factor whether or not somebodys going to enjoy or succeed above average is there SAT scores, he says, the threshold college readiness score was to be 1180 on a combined SAT math and verbal tests. If all Americans at 18 years old take this test its a score that about 10 percent of them would be able to achieve. Even with the specs laid down a large percentage of the job market looking to hire employees wont even consider hiring somebody with out a B.A. degree. The employers arent even interested in what the employees have learned from a liberal arts degree its just a screening process to find out whether or not the person is able to just finished. On average 90 percent of high school seniors are pressure buy high school counselors to go to a 4 year college. So where is the failure in the system, could it be the public school system. Buy the system they have in place, based on understanding of the test that they created to see where there student stand academically. only about 10 percent reach the minimum standard that they set. Without going directly after a. 4 year degree what are the alternative? Are junior colleges a good place to start coming straight out of high school. junior colleges all over the united states are set up to basically take over where ever high school left off, unfortunately with every single person this place is a different spot in their education. J.C. much like a high school or elementary school they expect you to grow while taking classes. the focus isnt so much where you been or what you know, they focused on giving you a solid foundation to build the rest of your life on. Can you still get the same quality 4 your degree by starting at a junior college? Yes, if you so choose to continue on to a 4 year degree.
