Are we becoming over reliant on technology? I received a LinkedIn request this week from someone I dont know. When I asked him why he would like to connect he told me all about his new project. He didnt ask about me once or mention anything about my profile or even relevance to his work. Upon declining his request I offered some very simple feedback. I suggested that he engage more with people and invest in the relationship first before worrying about getting his own agenda across. In his reply to me he thanked me for my advice and said that he has a tool for that very purpose. That worries me. My response: The best tools for engaging with people are your curiosity, your empathy and your ears! Use those much more than technology. Are we losing our way in terms of simply being able to relate to each other as human beings?
