Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as - TopicsExpress

Are we beginning to commend ourselves again? Or do we need, as some do, letters of recommendation to you, or from you? You yourselves are our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts, to be known and read by all. And you show that you are a letter from Christ delivered by us, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. (2 Corinthians 3:1-3 ESV) What is the best thing we could ever hope for in our lives? Is it to become very special in our own right. Or would we prefer to see our child, or another dearly loved member of our family become more than we ever could have been ourselves? That was the picture I believe Paul was painting; he loved the church almost as much as he loved Jesus. The church was the Bride of Christ and Paul saw it as the most beautiful love letter that could have been written to express the love God had for man. He didnt see himself as that which was most important, but that he was an intermediary whose role was to keep the relationship pure, holy and righteous. What does it take to have the kind of love and affection for the will and purpose of Christ that Paul had? Is it a selfish desire to see great things done by your own hand? No! It is is dying to yourself and living for Christ! It is discovering that when we put his will above ours, and his agenda before our own that we are given access to witness the most amazing of miracles, the plan of God played out in the lives of men and omen. They become, as Paul put it, our letter of recommendation, written on our hearts for all the world to see and experience. Lets write great letters on the lives of people, and see the Bride of Christ become everything God wants it to be.
