Are we glaring at others in critical judgment, or are we squinting - TopicsExpress

Are we glaring at others in critical judgment, or are we squinting in focussing on their essential beauty? Here is the difference between glaring and squinting wonderfully explained below by one of my friends. I sat as a live model for a portrait workshop taught by an amazing artist. He is the only living artist with art in the Vatican and currently completing a Vatican commissioned painting of Pope Francis plus he studied at the Moscow Art Institute as child protégé through doctorate equivalent studies. He kept telling the students to squint.... as he drew me I watched him squint as he looked at me. He said most artists look intently and then try to copy details. A true artist squints to eliminate the unnecessary details and gain the essence of a person, landscape, etc. To see the true beauty. .. we must squint. I think this holds true worth life, circumstances, people, a church, etc. Sherrie Moore.
