Are we over doing it when it comes to detangling? Yes! Heres - TopicsExpress

Are we over doing it when it comes to detangling? Yes! Heres why; Everyone wants the shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner and leave in to detangle the hair, when that is not the purpose for all of these items. Trying to detangle at every step in the regimen is too much manipulation. Too much manipulation means less strands on your head and more in the comb or fingers:) Shampoo is strictly for cleansing the hair. We dont want it to dry our hair so a moisturizing one is good but we dont want to detangle while washing. Conditioner/ deep conditioner should do just that, it softens the hair and should loosen the kinks and knots on its own. This step preps your hair for styling. Apply the conditioner throughout the hair and let it sit, dont try and detangle at this point. After sitting in there for about ten minutes, you can then try and just get the dead and loose hair from your tresses, but dont detangle. Leave in conditioner, this is the point you want to detangle. Because at this point you are ready to style. To properly use a leave in you should apply from root to tip, separate in 4 sections. Allow it to marinate for a couple of minutes before detangling. Once one section is detangled, braid it or twist it. If you dont, it will get back tangled again, we have curls and kinks, so thats what it does. Doing it this way shortens the process and keeps you from using so much shampoo and conditioner thinking you have to detangle at every step. Happy Monday! Make it great!
