Are we truly who we think we are? From birth we are given a name by others, then raised on the beliefs, thoughts and opinions of those around us. So what, if anything, have we actually created or learned ourselves? Apart from our own bodies, what have we actually got that hasnt been changed or manipulated, instructed or enforced by the world around us? Even our very minds have been moulded by society into what they are today. Every thought and dream, everything you say or do, has been influenced and guided by what is around us. Of course everybody is still unique, since everybodys experiences differ. But without being entirely isolated within our own consciousness from the moment we draw breath, we can never truly know the potential of what we in ourselves could have been or were even destined to be. This isnt our world, your world isnt yours, it is an amalgamation of everyone and everything around us that shapes who we are and the lives we lead. Perhaps this is what it means to be human, to even be alive for that matter - for unless we existed purely in our own space and time starting from a blank canvas, nothing is truly your own. But that begs the question, are we actually sentient enough that if we were given the opportunity to manage our own existence and universe, to imagine and create everything around us, could we create anything at all? Its impossible to say really. Who knows what the human mind is capable of without ever being touched by outside influence. The very definition of a mind that can truly create things of its own accord would be that of what is commonly called, a god.
