Are you Grounded? No, Im not talking about what we say to our kids when they break a rule or come home after curfew. However, I think there is a connection there as we are giving children time and space to reflect and calm down when we do ground them. :) Being Grounded is Being Connected to the calming and rooting energy of Mother Earth. The practice of Grounding ourselves can assist in calming our minds and bodies. Grounding: 1. Leaves us feeling relaxed and at peace. 2. Allows time to bring awareness into our lives. 3. Increases strength, balance and stability in our physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual states. 4. Helps bring acceptance that we are here to fulfill a purpose. 5. Provides an outlet for the release of pent-up energy. Here are some common symptoms of being ungrounded. Often an individual will encounter the same one or two symptoms each time they are ungrounded. Dizziness Daydreaming A feeling of being ‘spaced out’ Feeling nauseous Heart palpitations Eyes shifting and unfocused Weight gain Clumsiness Static shocks Falling asleep when meditating Noise and light sensitive Forgetful Having creative ideas that never happen Arguing or unable to get your point across Here are some of the ways that will help you to feel Grounded: Eating (which may encourage weight gain) Drinking water Walking barefoot, especially in natural surroundings Sports, yoga, tai chi Gardening Spending time with animals and activities such as walking the dog Keeping both feet on the ground and uncrossing legs when sitting Namaste!
