Are you a Roberts Rules of Order expert? Consider this: The Chairperson is not a member of the organizational committee; a motion offered, seconded and a vote called for; 4 YES votes including the chair, two ABSTAINS and a NO vote. Ive pondered this quandary off and on since yesterday afternoon and have concluded the motion failed. The chair does not have a vote and the balance of three votes is less than a majority. That said, a six member organizational committee plus a chair that isnt a member is dysfunctional, at best. Given such a circumstance its incumbent upon the committee to refer ALL business to the entire executive committee; especially as it relates to employment, employee relations, termination, offers of severance compensations, etc. If our party is not above reproach how can we possibly expect volunteers, contributors and voters to join with us?
